It's in the Olympics. But if your cousins still don't want to believe it's a sport, have them take a riding lesson, where they are put on the lunge line, and have them sit the trot for a while. I'm sure they will feel their muscles the next day. Maybe then they believe it's a sport.

If horseback riding isn't a sport than why should gymnastics be one? I mean you need good balance so you don't fall while on the balance beam, just like you need good balance so you don't fall off when you are jumping, during, or doing almost anything on a horse. Also like others have said it's in the Olympics which DEFIANTLY makes it a sport. And if you've never ridden a horse and you say it's not a sport, get on a horse for about an hour, your legs will be so sore after you get off, and you use more than just your leg muscles while riding, you use almost every muscle at least a little while you ride... even your brain!!! haha

YES! Horseback riding is most definitely a sport. You should tell your cousins to look up Eventing, it's the horse version of a triathalon. With dressage, cross-country jumping, and show jumping, how could it not be a sport? Plus, it's considered a varsity sport at some colleges. Other colleges, it's a club sport.

yes, horseriding is a sport. For example, pound for pound, jockeys are one of the strongest atheletes there are. Secondly horse related sports like Show Jumping and Eventing take a considerable amount of power and skill to participate in. Its also one of the most dangerous sports. If you consider, lets say, someone who plays baseball....He is inactive for a large amount of time as he either has to wait for the ball to be hit to him or for him to hit a ball thats worth running past first. With something like eventing or Endurance riding, you are on a horse for 4 miles or 400 miles having to deal with the strain of the horses pull as well as the strain on the legs, hips and back attempting to stay balanced. Ok, hope this helps out

There are many horse riding sporting events. The Kentucky Derby and horse racing are called "The Sport of Kings", additionally there are Olympic events that involve horses, such as steeplechase. I hope you made a good bet with your cousin, because you were right.
