cats are not better just different- dogs are pack animals, while cats are loners in nature
you can own a dog but a cat owns you.--- to be accepted by a cat is very special.
the best thing about a cat is you can leave it at home for 2 or 3 days with a clean litter box, plenty of food and water and everything is fine when you return home-- you cant do that with a dog

please note-- cats do not respond to punishment of any kind-- that will just drive it away from you-- or worse it will fight you.
their are always reasons why a cat misbehaves--the trick is you figure out what that might be--fix it,and problem solved.

Cat's have natural instincts that dog's lack. They do not go around your house looking for dog poop to eat, like a dog will do in a cat litter box. Yuck!
A cat can be left alone if you need to be gone for several days. Hell in some cases they might not even know you are gone. Cats do not sell out like a dog does, you have to earn their trust and affection.

P.S. to CHETZEL: On the contrary, there are many cases where a cat has physically inserted himself between his person and a threat from another. I've seen it myself. A hissing, threatening cat is actually quite frightening, and can do serious damage.

I just want to correct all the people saying dogs are smarter. It has been proven that cats are actually the smarter animal, they are able to learn commands and tricks but chose not to... my cat learned to play fetch and absolutely loves it. Cats are so much easier to maintain and I do like that I had to earn my cats love and trust and it wasnt all slobbery and dumb like a dog, now that I've earned it she cuddles and plays.

They have the ability to keep them selves clean. Can be litter trained, they don't stink, they are pleasant to be around, smart, learn quickly, and don't attack like some dogs do. And can bond with people easily. They don't track dirt into the house. Some people still use them for mousers. It's fun to play with.

1.) There arent seeing-eye cats.... (they dont help people)
