Well now the Earth is a bit over crowded. But in 50 to 100 years the Earth will be way over crowded because ocean levels would rise from global warming. Much land will be underwater, then the Earth will be overcrowded.
Do you know in 75 years flordia, london, mississippi, new york, washington D.C., phildealphia, and Bangladesh will be completely underwater?

The Earth can sustain several times the population it has at present. Conditions would not be so pleasant and power would be at a premium but food could still be abundant.
Food can be sourced from growing algae, bacteria, fermenting many green stuffs etc.
The problem with the Earth's population is not so much numbers but locations. For instance far too many people live in East Africa, particularly Ethiopia and Somalia where the climate is too hot and dry for agriculture and is getting hotter as the years go by to the point where in the future it is likely to be too hot to support life.
The ice areas however such as Alaska and vast areas of Russia could easily support life and food production given the will to do so.

The Earth can still take on many more people, maybe 4 billion, if it just doesn't all happen at once. If every bit of fertile land is used, food would be the least of the problems. I think getting around would be most difficult but still manageable.

It is approaching. But man being what we are I think we will have a war and kill about 3 billion people. As supplies get short and those wanting to propagate their religion or politics it places us all in danger. I have Sean some computer projections that the breaking point is about 10 billion.

sorry i can't give you figures, since population & resources are variable i don't know if such a figure has been agreed upon. From what i read & wtach on tv,i'd say not yet,but very nearly so,the earth is straining at it's seams.if we are interested in leaving something worth while for following generations,we will have to watch out our step in more directions than one .

I think it's well on its way; another billion, and that should do it.
