Atheists have heard your opinions, jelly_bab, many times, but your opinions are not based on facts, just a book which you think is true because it says it's true! Therefore we reject your views.
Christians get offended because they are typically arrogant, such as JJ. You don't KNOW anything, or you would be able to PROVE the existence of your God and there could be no argument from the rest of us. You believe in creation, flying in the face of all scientific evidence which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that life evolved over a very long period of time. You can't prove anything. If you BELIEVE that there is a God, it is up to you to prove it. Atheism has nothing to prove; it is just the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified, unprovable religious BELIEFS, not facts.

It's not only Christians who behave that way. Any adherent to any religion will react like that. Religion is a very emotional subject for those who believe - just look at all the wars in history where the root cause was religion.

Maybe it's a deep insecurity brought on by an awareness in the deep sub-conscious of the essential daftness of what they are trying to believe! Even the most gentle reminder of some of the more blatant Biblical errors or impossibilities sends them deeper into denial than an Egyptian scuba diver!

Christian here:
I'm not at all offended whether you believe in God (there's only one, with many names in many cultures) because I know that God believes in you!
I don't care if you never believe at all inside this lifetime, your soul is His to take not mine. Yours to give, or not. I know the God I love and trust, isn't judging how to think or believe, He's judging on the basis of how you love, or not, your fellow man and living creatures.
I do care about you as a brother/sister, and I would be a friend should we chance to meet, albeit, only in a moments passing, or inside a long term meet should fate decree it so inside this life.
My only message, if message I have to share, is that we are all related, all brothers and sisters under the skin, despite our place of birth and creed etc. I believe that all life forms on this planet matter, and that we should be nurturing and caring, both toward each other, and toward our planet.
That's really all any one of us can do, be the best we can inside this life.
My faith is strong enough to take any abusive treatment, and far too strong to consider myself above the faith of others, whatever is their leaning.
In the end, all the intellectual jargon in the world wont give us answers, nor will it make us understand each others points of view, since it's not about our minds at all, it's all about our souls... and those, we tune to from our heart.
God Bless;-)

There is only 1 God in all religion. Don`t need to be a Christian.
We are not offended if you don`t believe...
We just pity you...those who have no God, or have different god.
We invite you to believe or...you can regard yourself as non-existent....
s o r r y !!!!!!!!! you just have wasted the holiness of your spirit.

The same way Muslims get offended when one proclaims their god inferior. It is called faith to the point of irrationality. If we are worshiping a force, irrespective of what that is, does it not teach tolerance and love to all humankind! Does it not teach the importance of spreading the “Godly” word of ones teachings? Does it not say that one should respect all that one as to say and should not cast judgement on anyone as we ourselves are not in a position to judge? Alternatively, does it say to go out and punish those that see things different from you? All religions need to respect each others views, we are entitled to them, its our right as humans to have our own individual beliefs and one should feel free to express them without fear of redemption, retribution. No religion is good that practices ignorance and condones hostility on non-believers of its faith. That’s my opinion.

the truth is that God is the crux of their belief. its like someone telling you that your father is not the one who gave birth to you.
Actually Christians are not supposed to be offended but have pity on the person, ones belief is his faith and science has not disproved that Jesus Christ did not live, or that God is not around, so until that happens, don't tell them their God is not around until you can prove it

Maybe its the way you tell them?
I can see why anyone should have a problem if someone explains calmly and politely that they have a different opinion to them.
But if you tell them its a load of rubbish and He doesn't exist, then I think that might be the problem!
Why be mean to them like this? They have a different belief to you, that's all.
If you expect open-mindedness from others you have to be prepared to be open-minded yourself.
