Should your dad listen to you? If you were the parent in this situation how would you like to be treated? It sounds as if you are dealing with some issues. You are 16 and struggling with weight perhaps you are being disrespected by others so then you are in turn being disrespectful to your dad and others.
You were meant to live for so much more! You have a long life ahead of you. I believe you should listen to your dad when he gives you advice about different things in a positive way but certainly not this one time. Your dad is not perfect, he said something mean when he was feeling disrespected.
I dare you to move! I dare you to turn things around in your family by taking the first step. If you want respect than give it. If you want love give it. I know that sometimes it is hard to initiate some positive action when you have been dissed but if you can manage to do what is right in the face of adverse circumstances and words you will find that you will reap what you have sown eventually.
I was a teenager not too long ago. If I could go back I would listen to the good advice my parents gave me perhaps if I would have done that rather than disrespected them I would not have to try and forget the harsh words spoken.
I hope you have a great day!
Mr. G.

Yo... sounds like you need to chill out for a moment.
As for doing what your Dad tells you... if you were already listening to him you would not be having these arguments.
Dad's are not always right. I am one and I've made my fair share of mistakes. But... I love my kids and try very hard to make sure they have good food and warm place to stay. In exchange some appreciation and respect is not much to ask.

Your days of living under your dads roof are short in comparison to the rest of your life. "The FREE Ride" is almost over. So for the time you have left, enjoy it...and let your Dad enjoy your being there too.

You should not kill yourself and make your father regret telling you that. Every parent and child has an argument and you shouldn't take it seriously because he probably just said that cause he was angry. Instead you should talk to him about what you guys said and apologize to him, and tell him that you were actually thinking about killing yourself for what he said to you.

It sounds to me that you both need to grow up. You should show some respect for your dad and not say things like that to start with and he definatly should grow up and not get down to your level by saying dumb things back.

You need to grow up. You shouldn't be talking to your Dad like that. Your question isn't funny.

I'm sure he did not mean that. He was just upset. I would be too if you said that to me.
