Of course. It's definitely a force in the world.
What religion represents, now that's a much more difficult and complicated question.
Levi-Strauss speculated on "Necessary myths": the idea that societies function well when they have core values held largely in common. Even the rebels and dissenters have a use for the norm, as they define their positions in contrast to it.
But note: for THESE purposes the truth or otherwise of the core myths is largely irrelevant. Their use comes from them being believed, not their being true.
Given how religions differ in their content, they can hardly all be true. But more than one can be powerful at the same time. When they share the same space, as is increasingly happening with global travel and communication, the potential for culture clash, and even actual conflict, clearly increases.

I was raised and studied in a convent. Now, I'm already matured I have my own free choice I do respect my religion (Catholic) but I don't exactly beleive that a religion can save our lives. Religion is made by men, it is about power, money. and could be one of the cause of world conflicts. It's my faith in Him that I must always keep and that is more important.

I classify myself as a Christian and I believe Jesus is the son of God, but I do not believe in organized religion (churches, church doctrine, etc) because I see lots of unnecessary prejudice against others at those places. My Jesus did not preach this prejudice.

Although I don't believe in God, religions are powerful, and frequently negatively so.
