FYI: I'm Muslim

2006-11-18 00:28:45 · update #1

I'm Muslim and I know my religion and the customs in here. People here write it with sympathy as if it were a fact. I appreciate your feelings and your sympathy, but actually this is not more than anti-Islamic propaganda

The religion of peace speaketh once more > If a woman has been violated it is her fault. The brothers of the victimized woman may kill or deform you. It even goes on in better more modern Muslim nations. I heard former Queen Nur of Jordan say so in a tv interview

Ms. Pretty-----I do not know where you live, and what the customs are in your country.

There are places where customs dictate this, and customs are hard to break. This is not Islam--------it is the customs of the people in certain places, and non-Muslims often relate customs to Islam beliefs.

Whoever said that obviously knows nothing about Islam. My husband is from a Muslim country and i know if a family member, neighbor or friends family member was raped the rapist better hope the police get to him first because, those Muslim men would kill him with there bare hands. If caught by the police they are sentenced to death also but I'm sure it would be less painful than what those men would do to him. Its simply not true and anyone who knows anything about Muslims knows it is a LIE.

Rape cases are very rare in Muslim countries because Islam Strongly prohibits raping. I live in a Muslim country and i can assure you that women are more secure in Muslim countries than in the west. Some people here are deliberately trying to malign Islam.
Just incase you didn't know I have read that United States of America has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. Between was 1992 and 1993.
So much ignorance I'm already getting thumbs down for telling the truth.
TRUTH DOES HURT

Nope its not about islam, it is culture in some remote parts of asian countires where girls were treated that way, but its not about islam, i must say that was lack of islamic knowledge but now even that tradition is being changed through involvoment of media and governament, and there are vyer good positive changes seen , peoples are getting awareness and hope so it ,ll come out to be better.that culture was called karu-kari that used to be seen mostly in remote uneducated areas where they have no law or jury or governament hold , but things are changed now, girls are given their full right and culprit is being punished .

In pakistan , afghanistan , if a muslim girl claims she was raped , she has to produce 2 witnesses to prove a claim . If she is unable to produce the 2 witnesses , she will be accused of causing trouble and at worst called an adulteress. She will be accused of tempting her alleged rapist and that she is a woman of loose morale .

As such , which muslim girl would want to admit that she was raped ?

It happened to my friend's sister . She was given a beating because she dared to speak up .

You won't find this in city areas but it is prevalent in the tribal, rural, countryside areas

Rape accusation requires four witness or four testimonies from the person, plus he/she have to swore to God that it's true.

The other party can do the same.

SURELY SHE DARE NOT DO SO BECAUSE SHE HAS TO PRODUCE FOUR MALE WITNESSES AGAINST THE ACCUSED AND IN HER FAVOUR. THAT IS "HUDOOD" LAW.
BENAZIR BUTTO IS CONTEMPLATING ON THIS SUBJECT IN PAKISTAN.I AM NOT A "MUSLIM" BUT A HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIIST. CERTAINLY THIS CLAUSE PREVENT HER TO REPORT THE MATTER TO THE POLICE AS SHE WILL NOT GET JUSTICE IN THEIR OWN MUSLIM COUNTRIES. SHE WILL DEFINITELY DARE TO REPORT IF SHE WERE TO BE IN INDIA. AND THE MULLAHS WILL DEFINITELY ISSUE FATWAS AGAINST HER AND DECLARE HER AN OUTLAW IF SHE DOES NOT WITHDRAW.
