Do believers who assert that Jesus is coming back soon also advocate not not saving for retirement, not planting orchards, not fighting global warming, not discovering new energy sources, etc.?

If you DO save, plant, etc., do you interpret this as a lack of faith (in yourself or in others)?

That is my criticism of pre-millinial theology. They can't seem to live in this world, care about the environment, arts and the humanities, economies of the third world nations, etc, etc.

Although I disagree with the global warming paranoia, I can tell you that nobody knows when Jesus will return. So I have faith in the words of the bible that says nobody knows when He will return.

I will live my life as normal so I'm prepared either way. It doesn't hurt to be prepared for either scenario. Why do I have to choose between one or the other according to you?

And I will save for my family who is left behind. It will be some very scary times and if my money can ease their pain at all, then I will try to help them even after I'm gone. I even have a letter written with instructions on how to withdraw my funds so my family can find in case Jesus does return in my lifetime (which I think He will).

That is faith. If I had no faith, then I wouldn't have bothered writing that letter or following His words.

answer to your question? no !

The Bible tells us to take care of his Garden. That is the Earth. Also, contiune to look for Him. We do not know the day or the hour which Jesus will return. And the Bible says. We need to do be doing the Father business.

Bible verses for you:

Matthew 24:36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Matthew 24:35-37 (in Context) Matthew 24 (Whole Chapter)
Matthew 24:42
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Matthew 24:41-43 (in Context) Matthew 24 (Whole Chapter)
Mark 13:32
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Mark 13:31-33 (in Context) Mark 13 (Whole Chapter)
Luke 12:39
And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
Luke 12:38-40 (in Context) Luke 12 (Whole Chapter)

Here is another verse for you.

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

John , who wrote the book of Revelations believed that Jesus would come back in his lifetime. Even if your faith tells you that the world will end soon, it can never tell you an exact date and so it is our duty to keep living a responsible life. I do don't think that it represent a lack of faith, since nobody can tell for certain how soon, "soon" is.

to a point I agree, we live in A world that has a total death rate, like the thiefs on the cross we are as good as dead, we are walking in our own graves now, IF I understand I am as good as dead and Jesus the second member of The Godhead is my ONLY Exit, then what is most important will be put in order and EVERYTHING else will be last, IF I love Him keep His commandments IF I [IF you] do not love Him enough to keep His commandments [not suggestions] then that person will not love Him enough to be there, yes we must live in the world and be of use, building, eating and drinking but those things are not to be first place like sodom, like the world before the flood, so also today. learn more free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com bible questions www.bibleinfo.com God bless, hay visit on Sabbath [satuday] A Seventh Day Adventist Church in your area.

Remember that time is not the same for everyone. Have you ever been told- I´ll be with you in a minute? How long was it? Well the word soon has the same connotation. I will see you SOON.

You bet Jesus will come soon, so we should do the bast we can and take care of everything.

well i will give u an example, this world is like a guest house, where we have to stay for a while n then return back to our original home, but as we have to STAY here for a while or more,so we should also plan things n work, islam never supported sitting n praynig all the time,Muhammad(pbuh) himself said, work n pray, eat n fast, sleep n wake for prayers at night....Islam always asks for moderation,Islam is basically living life ,dealing with worldly matters according to the teachings of Islam.
