have you tried freecycle
go to http://uk.freecycle.org/ and find the group nearest to you - then post what you have and anyone who needs a tv will email you back and you can arrange to get it picked up...

Do not go too far away. If it costs much to get it to where it is going, you may be better donating the money to buy a new TV at the receiving end location.

Freecycle works really well. I got rid of an armchair on the group, and the person who wanted it came round to collect - it was really easy.
