"Animals"? Yes, of course. What else would we be?
"Spiritual animals"? Well, some are interested in spirituality, so I suppose they could be said to be "spiritual animals", in much the same way that I could be said to be a "baseball animal" (as that's my interest).
It doesn't run "deeper" than that, though: there is no such thing as a "soul".
And BTW, "Answers in Genesis" is an organization of professional liars. Citing them as a source really undermines your responses. If you want to support that kind of claim, I strongly suggest that you find sources that aren't so obviously dishonest.

No.
On Earth there are 4 basic levels of creation refered to as 'kingdoms'. Each kingdom contains the powers of the lower kingdoms in addition to its own specialized power. The lowest kingdom is the Mineral Kingdom. It has the power of attraction. Being the lowest, it has no other power. The next kingdom is the Plant Kingdom. It contains the Mineral Kingdom within it, but has the additional power of growth which the mineral has not. The 3rd kingdom is the Animal Kingdom. It contains the Mineral and Plant Kingdom within it, plus the power of thought, senses, and motion. The 4th kingdom is the Human Kingdom. It contains all the lower kingdoms - Mineral, Plant, and Animal - but has the distinct power of invention. Animals never have and never will have this power.
Humans are not animals.

No.
They are more than animals.
Humans are mammals who possess a God-breathed soul.
Read Genesis or find your answer in Answers In Genesis by seaching for 'Adam'
Therefore because humans have a God-breathed soul there are only 2 ways to live.
