what is the best way to manage dry skin in babies?

my baby is 6 months old & has dry skin in patches in his legs and hands.

It sounds like eczema.
Bath him in cetaphil, walmart has a generic version that works the same. It is the most mild cleanser you can use. Don't use regular baby soap on him. Use eucerin lotion on him daily. Don't bathe him every day this will only make his skin worse.
Both of my boys had this as babies, one worse than the other.
Neither had it really bad, it can be a real bugger for some little ones.
The dr. can also presribe a special ointment to put on the patches.

Babies skin will get dry if bathed too often. Try using a natural baby soap and lotion, ones without chemicals in them. Check out this site that has great information on healthy skin and using natural skin care products.

You could try a small humidifier in your baby's room. I find that always helps my skin in the winter. With the dry heat from the furnace, my skin gets really dry. I think if it persists though, you might want to ask your pediatrician about it.

i believe that Aveeno products are the best for dry skin for babies...yes it's a little more expensive but it's worth it if it works
