We live in Australia so Snags are a big thing on our weekly menu so mash is something we do alot of,
Either loads of cheese and extra milk, so smooth and cheesy.
Or Seeded mustard.
Or Pumpkin.
Or Sweet Potato
Or sour cream and bacon.

We always put a few cloves of garlic into the water with the spuds, and boil them together. When you mash the spuds and the garlic together, with of course butter and milk (or cream) and salt and freshly ground pepper to taste, it is Fabulous!
Snipped fresh chives is nice mashed in too. And the other thing himself does is put a big lump of butter on top to make a lovely cascading lagoon on top.
Yum!
Of course, I would always it goes without saying that it has to be BUTTER not anything else!!!

I add whole grain mustard, it really brings out a different sweetness from the potatoes. Don't worry it doesn't tast like mustard. Just mash as normal, you can add milk or cream like you normally do but add two teaspoons of the whole grain mustard instead of butter or you could have both!!! Enjoy

Try potato and celeriac mash or grate apple through it - sounds weird but tastes fab especially with sausages and gravy

Cold mashed potato, add fried onion, add some plain flour and season. Make into thick pancakes and fry in cheap olive oil or butter.
Your mouth will have multiple orgasms:)))

Baked beans - you've heard of sausage, beans & mash, haven't you?
Or even some gravy & onions (but NOT with the beans).

You could add some finely chopped onion to it, preferably cooked first. You could even try adding some chopped cooked bacon, that would really compliment the sausages.

believe it or not, but a bit of caraway seed in a batch of mash is very good, and goes well with many sausage recipes.
