Absolutely, why do people think we worship the devil and sacrifice animals in the woods? These things are the some of the nicest things I have been accused of. People are ignorant and we shouldn't be bothered by them I suppose, lots of other religions have trouble too.
If people don't say something nasty then they usually take the mickey in other ways for example, "Oooh can you turn so and so into a frog."
Take heart you are not alone. I don't often tell people that I'm wiccan, only those that I can trust to ask the right sort of questions and not laugh at my choices.

It is a common problem and there is a lot of deliberate misinformation (the post below from the individual who thinks or has been told the pentacle is a satanic symbol when it isn't is a classic example, they would no doubt also be surprised to know it was used as a seal by Emperor Constantine who made christianity the official religion of the empire).
Ultimately you must accept that to be different in any sense will attract ridicule and aggression from the ignorant and that is sadly unavoidable.
Take strength from The God and Goddess and know that your brothers and sisters pray for you.
Brightest Blessings

A early Wiccan "Charlatan" shares my name. That gives me some major problems with faith. If I said I was a Wiccan, I would be branded as a Satanist or something. So I don't "Brand "myself as anything. However someone with the same name has written a rather good book on the subject and is not scared to "Come-Out".
People I know already think I'm strange as I'm a Vegetarian!

Hi, I am not a Wiccan but a Spiritualist and I have much the same problem, to a certain degree. I do believe in a lot of the Wiccan ways which are not dissimilar to Spiritualism. It is hard not to get upset I know, I am extra sensitive because I am a Medium and have to be to do what I do, but I try to send them love and forgive their ignorance. After all, it is their loss as they don't know what a wonderful way of life they are missing. Try doing the same - not easy I know - but send them love and you will be surprised how they change tactic. xx

I think almost every faith is misjudged by people who don't know about it.
I'm Christian and I am misjudged and bullied all the time because of it. That's no surprise because Jesus said the world will hate us because it hated Him first. And the only perfect man ever to walk this earth was crucified because of His teachings.
Blacks are misjudged by whites. Whites are misjudged by blacks. Italians are misjudged by Jews. Koreans are misjudged by Japanese. Fat people are misjudged by skinny people. I mean, it happens all the time, everywhere for any reason.
Why should you be exempt from it?
Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get on with your life. As far as your faith goes, I'm sure you feel that I would misjudge you because I have my opinions on it which you wouldn't agree with. However, I understand full well what witchcraft is regardless if you think it's "good" magic.
You don't think that you are in a satanic religion, however, all of your beliefs agree with satan's ways. You even adopted the same symbol as satanists which should tell you something right there. Why not have your own wiccan symbol if it didn't agree with satanism? You might not believe in satan, but you're following him regardless of what you believe.
I could go on and on about it. But I'm sure you've already closed your ears to anything else I have to say because I'm "misjudging" you.

I am no wiccan but I am sorry you are being misjudged and bullied. This is not supposed to happen. You are free to make any decisions and choose any orientations that suit you and make your life better in your opinion without being disrespected.
It is not only you who face this. The basic concept is intolerance and bullying.
May Allah have mercy on us all.
Peace

Don't assume people are ignorant because of their poor opinion of Wicca. Maybe they're a whole lot more intelligent than you because they understand what Wicca represents BETTER than you do. Bring on the thumbs down - I understand how sensitive Wiccans are to criticism, and how desperately they feel a need to retaliate against it. Hey, you can even report me if the mood strikes you - it doesn't bother me. Peace.

yes. What bothers me the most is that people think that wiccans are evil and worship "the devil". There is no devil,Satan,or any other evil beings. Wicca is an earth religion, we don't "worship" we give thanks for the gifts the earth provides, we ask for guidance in our lives to do good things. I wear my pentacle proudly as others wear their crosses and stars of David or any other symbol they choose.
