no that does not make you a coward. in is human nature to survive, when u think of killing yourself, it means you are going against human nature, which is the will to live. i don't like the phrase " a cowards way out" i think that is an outdated saying.some people have no idea what it is like to be so depressed, that they want to kill themselves. if u are suffering from a clinical or organic depression that is what gives you the reason to end your life, not you, the person. my brother was bipolar, went off his medications, and shot himself he was not a coward, he did not kill himself, his illness killed him. it is not healthy to entertain the idea of killing yourself. if you have these thoughts frequently, get some professional help

I would not use the term "coward's way out" - that is very dismissive. Let's look at it in another way: if a person is thinking about suicide, they are actually CONFRONTING some bad aspects of their life.

Because the bad aspects look (at present) like there is no way to solve or avoid them, the only way out may *seem* to be - exit life.

This is so often not the case. Maybe you need some outside help from a counsellor, friend, teacher or whoever. Perhaps it's time to sit down and plan to change things in your life, but (in answer to your question)...

NO, you are not a coward for realising something is wrong. Being afraid to quit without checking out ALL your options is not cowardly, it's just good sense.

Suicide is never the answer full stop. You are afraid to do it because u know it's not a healthy lifestyle choice. I don't think being a coward comes into the equation at all, it's all to do with personal circumstance and the way u deal with the world around u. So u're not a coward either way! And don't do it.

Suicide is a way out not just for cowards.
I don't think it makes you a bigger coward because you're afraid to do it.
Some people are just plain sick and tired of trying to live in a world that is so full of hate. Everywhere all day all the time.
Some folks just want some peace and quiet.
Fighting to live???? For what?

You are not a coward. You are a coward only if you believe that you are. Don't judge yourself. We have enough judging from others already and don't need that from ourselves. Be kind to yourself by nuturing your inner self with love. You are what you believe you are. If you believe that you deserve it, then you will deserve it. The mind is the most powerful thing in this world. If you want to change something, believe that you can change it and try doing all the things that will lead you to the direction that you want. Let your mind manifest your desires. Don't let yourself beat yourself down.

It isn't a cowards way out, to be honest...it is a very serious decision that can't be reversed...and takes a lot of dispair to actually go through with it...I do not believe it has anything to do with cowardice...but more to do with , you must have some hope left and although you have felt like you have hit rock bottom...there is still that common sense ray of hope keeping you from going through with an irreversible tragedy...God Bless you and say your prayers through Jesus, for strength and guidance...and keep coming here for support...

I just recently got help for my depression and for most of my life...even now if I think about it enough, I think that I'm just too much of a coward to kill myself.

But then I start thinking. I have an awesome husband who loves me even with all this crazy sh*t that I'm going through, and two loving cats who would suffer more then I know if I killed myself.

You aren't a coward for not being able to do it. Killing yourself is not only scary but stupid and final.

If you are seriously thinking of killing yourself, get help. Seriously. People care about you even if they don't know you. I learned that the hard way recently.

But please, and I'm serious, GET HELP!

Good luck and stay strong!

Suicide is not a way 'out' but a way 'in'. Suicide is like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. You obliviously do not know what takes place after you leave your body. 'Consciousness' can neither be created or destroyed. There are millions of 'souls' waiting to reincarnate (get another body) so they can continue to resolve their Karmic responsibilities. Make you life better by making some new decisions. You are the Creator of your world.
