my wife has a wound to the tummy area after an operation and has a wound bag over it to collect the discharge from it the only problem is it keeps on leaking at the bottom where the bag sits on a crease in the stomoc so when she bend over and stands up (as you do) the seal between the bag and her skin breaks and thus it starts leaking
any ideas would be helpfull thanks

Make sure that when she puts the bag on she is standing up so that the skin is stretched and there are no creases. You can also put a dressing around the bag edge( you can get special shaped ones, ) or try tape such as mefix. Mepore will probably just come off if it gets wet. Also make sure her skin does not get sore where the exudate is leaking onto the skin- try a barrier such as Cavilon. Good Luck!

Are you sure this is the wound is ok? I wouldn't of thought it should weep that much.. but anyway.. apart from putting stronger glue on the bag to hold it in place which isn't very practical.. why not try placing a sanitary towel in the bag to soak up the discharge?

Your wife needs to see a doctor to have the bag replaced; it is designed not only to catch the seepage, but also to protect the wound from infection. Since the seal is not intact, it is not doing its job, and your wife is at some risk for infection.

Your poor wife; please give her my commiserations. How lucky a person is who has a caring partner to look after them. Good luck with it and all the best.
