My 2 year old got her flu shot today and the health officer gave it to her in her butt. I was surprised by this, as she has always gotten her vaccines in her leg by her doctor. I am wondering if this will affect the effectiveness of the flu vaccine? Does anyone know? I read online (I know, dangerous) some sites said that shots in the butt do not work as well...

I think I am going to call her Dr. on Monday and ask what they think. I doubt they'll say to give her another shot, but I'm curious. I need her flu shot to work this year as I'm 9 mos pregnant!

A flu shot may be given in the buttock. Hepatitis shots are given in the leg, as they are not absorbed well form the buttock due to subcutaneous fat.

Your getting a little upset over nothing. I've given different shots to people in different places or they've asked me to give it to them in certain places. What's your problem?
Call your doctors office and ask them. Calm down in the meantime.
