I am allergic to all metals, including platinum, and would like an engagement ring made for me entirely out of a semi-precious stone. I have seen them before but cannot remember where. Please help! Engaged and ringless x

sorry I can't think of anywhere so I'm not much use to you.. I just can't get this question out of my head though.. does your future husband know he'll be doing the washing up for the rest of his life? - oh wait.. I got a plastic ring in a Christmas cracker last year.. interested.?? seriously though, good luck in your marriage - the ring isn't everything..

go to your local Jewellers and ask if they can put a lining into/onto a metal ring

there is a wee shop in Cardross in Scotland that makes handmade jewellery. they do commissions for wedding and engaement rings and do alot of precious stones. I cannot promise you would get one entirely metal free, but you can certainly email them or contact them and talk and they can advise you, if they can't help you directly. here is the website:

onyx rings are very easily available. I have also seen Jade rings. I can think of a couple of shops that stock them. one is a 'new age-y' sort of shop, and the other is a standard arty type gift shop.
