Mine doesn't ...i use Ortho Tri Cylen and it's great it helps your skin I hardly ever have acne since i started this pill...and your parents shouldn't find out because there is this thing called doctor patient confidentiality

Naturally its your choice, and its your body- but 16 is still a bit young isn't it? You're still a child yourself.

Anyway, you seem happy and responsible so on with the question at hand.

I've seen alot of weight be put on by some of my friends re. the pill. Infact my best mate's girlfriend has a slow release implant pill near her neck just beneath the skin. I've seen her gain alot of weight though.

Talk to your doctor about the different pills available, as a guy I wouldn't know obviously.

I have heard that the pill can control periods so that might be a good cover to use with the parents.

Having said that the truth would be better. Lying and concealing things from your parents leads to nothing good in the end.

I'd still use condoms even though you may get on the pill. I suggest you both get tested for STDs as well just to make sure all is well.

Take care of yourself and try to stay out of mischief!

I never put on weight with the pill...and I have always had a hard time managing my weight gain.

Yes, it is completely confidential, my doctor actually made a point in front of mom to schedule my yearly checkup without her being there to talk to me about the need for birth control and gave me sample packs so my mom didn't know that I was taking birth control and that was back in 1995 before HIPPA got crazy which gives more patient rights even with parents.

Talk to your family doc alone and let them know you want to be safe but don't want your parents to know...even if you have to do it over the phone.

I don't know what country you're in, but in most places your GP can prescribe the pill for you without your parents having to know. The pill can make you put on weight but if you find the right one (there are lots of them out there) then weight gain should be minimal. Still, before you ditch the condoms completely, get your boyfriend to undergo an STD and HIV test, just to be sure!

Good Luck!

Some pills will make you put on weight but discuss it with the doctor when you see him.

It will be confidential. Just remember, even though you are on the pill, keep using the condoms. The pill won't protect you from STDs.

Well your doctor has to check which kind of pill agrees with your motabalisim first. Some pills make you loose wieght others make you blow up. Dont have your friends tell you to go on any kind just to avoid you geting pregnant. The wrong pill could complicate your life as an adult e.g your peroid could go crazy, or when you decide to have a baby you find you cant fall pregnant and aso you could become short tempered and worse!!! So talk to someone you trust first before you go on the pill. Think hard about your future first.

Condoms are the safest. It protects you from sexually transmitted diseases too.
On a personal note, I hate condoms. They stick to me like belly dancers costume and don't let me come properly.
