RAM issues usually do all this sorta thing. When ever you down load any thing onto the computer the RAM gets loaded with clutter. If you know how to do this change the size of the swap file.......

sounds like you may have some missing files, in my opinion is to back up anything you dont want to lose and reformat the pc and get a fresh start with it
