the overall hypocrisy argument looks in lots of sorts. a well-liked form is as follows: "that's hypocritical to declare rights for a cow yet not for a plant; subsequently, cows can't have rights." it will be hypocritical IF a similar criteria or morally correct attributes that are used to justify animal rights also utilized to flora. the criteria said through the AR stream are "soreness and suffering" and being "topics-of-a-life". An evaluation of how flora degree as a lot as those criteria outcomes interior proper right here conclusions. First, our ideal technology as a lot as now shows that flora lack any semblance of a imperative fearful device or the different device layout for such complicated capacities as that of wakeful plagued by felt soreness. second, flora only haven't any evolutionary want to experience soreness. Animals being cellular would income from the means to experience soreness; flora does not. Nature does not gratuitously create such complicated capacities as that of feeling soreness except there is a few income for the organism's survival. in case you nonetheless insist that plant also posses life, then that's authentic. As God commanded the adam/eve, the subsequent evolution to be FRUITARIAN is already been shown and really VEG*ANs are there to stay with you!

Plants do not have the capacity to feel pain as we do; however, plants do respond to stress such as cuts or other damage in a number of ways. They may thicken tissue, grow in a direction opposite the stressor, or simply drop the damaged stem or leaf so as to prevent damage to the plant as a whole.

Not in the sense in which we humans do. However they do find certain situations favorable and certain others uncomfortable or undesirable. Hence they show +ve or -ve growth responses under diverse conditions. Behavior of SENSITIVE parts like tendrils, fine roots, apical buds is worth watching in this regard.

define pain!
if you are defining pain as the message of imminent danger as percived as message carried by neurons that signal the fight or flight response, no they do not.
if you define it as a systematic response to physical damage, yes they do indeed! and the entire environment surrounding them feels it through the response of fungal associations.
