Two years back, during my H1 interview in US Consulate (Delhi), I shown myself 'unmarried'. Actually, I was married three days before. I done this to ease my H1 visa.

After getting my H1 visa approved, I managed to get another marriage certificate of post interview date.

My question is: If someone inform embassy about my intentional mistake, can they cancel my visa? Will there be any effect on my green card?

Can I myself admit the error and represent the embassy to avoid future problems?

Please guide me.

I really don't know one way or the other.

My suggestion would be to contact an attorney who knows about immigration law to find out one way or the other.

My other suggestion would be honesty is the best policy & to call the immigration office nearest to you or see if there any thing on the government web site to help you. It would look better if you let them know yourself verse them findung out from a third party. If they found out from a third party it might look like you have something else to hide.

Just remember if you do call immigration it could affect every thing you have here.

You have to decide for yourself what you are going to do.

When people write to complain that they can't get a visa to come to the US, or there are long delays in their cases, it is because of people like you who have intentionally lied to get some sort of immigration benefit from the US government.

You lied that you were not married so it would be easier to get an H1b visa, then you bought a fraudulent marriage certificate to support your claim, then you applied for your wife to come to the US and now she is leaving you and you are afraid of your past deeds - good! You are an example of everything that is wrong with our immigration system - the loop holes and technicalities that are exploited by citizens of other countries, who then enter the US and lie again to get other benefits to which they are not entitled, then cheat on their taxes, so that someone else is paying for everything. In this case, I hope for nothing more, or less, than karma.

Your marital status was immaterial to your qualification for the visa, so actually confessing the truth won't affect your visa, your work, your marriage, or your wife's H4. If your employer petitions for a green card for you, that will not be affected, either.
