Can I use software to change my theme?

Question

I use a networked PC at my college. The security restrictions stop me from changing my theme in Windows, and I am sick of the blue start bar.

I would like to know if there is software out there that will do the job. I would like it to work on a memory stick, but if you need to install it, I can get that to do the job.

(not right click on desktop, display properties - disabled)

I am aware of the risks. Some users are blue and green. Others are windows classic.

I suggest probably the most efficient way of changing it is to find an Administrator, and ask nicely! If you make your point well enough, they might be willing to lower restrictions temporarily so you can change your theme to whatever you want.

If that doesn't work, start writing articles for your college or something. If you get into a recognised position, you might be given additional extras ;)

Other than that, the only way to do it is by somehow hacking the computers to disable the restrictions. Which is hard.

There's a piece of software called windows blinds, which allows you to mess about with all sorts of skins for windows. I used to have a rather nice looking Xbox 360 theme on mine.

If you are restricted on that PC though, I don't suppose you'll be able to install or use the software. Give it a go though, I don't know if you'll be able to install it to the memory stick, probably not, because part of the install is to add the software to windows registry, which is localised.

If the security policy is so strict you can't even change your theme, I doubt your even allowed to load software. I know this because I've just been learning about security policies and how to implement them. Go to your start menu, click run and in the prompt typ gpedit and hit enter. If it come back policy prevents your doing that or something like that, then you can't change the policy. The only other thing you could do would be call the IT desk and see if there is a reason its locked onto one theme. (sorry to give you bad news like that, but I do know this. I"m actually learning networking in school and we just covered this topic)

They have the restrictions in place for a reason - maybe the changes you want to make are harmless but others may not have the same honest intentions as yourself.. if you do find a way of changing the display and they find out then you could risk losing your college place.. please think about it seriously

once you've "Sony's subject" on, the colour of the XMB adjustments randomly. it will be a diverse coloration each and each and every time. making constructive its set to the unique subject, bypass to "subject Settings" then "coloration". elect a colour. From what I observed, black isn't there. Black randomly looks in this subject =(
