Hmm...depends on what is important to you, but I would have to say the Big Island (Hawaii) or Oahu. The one advantage that the Big Island has over O'ahu is that Kilauea Volcano is on the Big Island. If you really want to see an active volcano, then the Big Island's the way to go. There are also tropical rainforests, waterfalls, a wind farm, botanical gardens, nice beaches, friendly people, and a laid-back lifestyle!
Oahu is better if you don't care about seeing the volcano and want to be able to keep in touch with city life. Staying on the Big Island can get boring after a while, and Oahu at least has tons of good restaurants and clubs and malls for shopping and playing at night. Oahu shops tend to stay open later. Oahu also has beautiful beaches and lots of historical places to visit - such as Pearl Harbor, PCC (Polynesian Cultural Center), Iolani Palace, and Diamond Head.
Of course, the good thing about the islands is that they are so close together that it's not that expensive or time-consuming to "island-hop" once you get there...

HAWAII - so many bargains. Least expensive hotels are www.sand-seaside.com and they are on most all the islands.
Sunday papers have travel pkgs (hotel-air-car) bargains.
Contact airlines (Continental, American, Delta, United); sometimes they have these same pkgs.
Honolulu has lots of cheap hotels but you probably don't wanna spend a whole vacation there.
I have coupons that entitle you to 3 days in 3-star Honolulu hotels for only $15/night. But you need to apply at least 60 days in advance. Get some for next year?
If you have 3 months to spare, you can get FREE room and board for 3 months in trade for volunteer work at a Christian training center. contact http://www.missionbuilders.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=26&lang=en
If you rent a Budget car, they give you LOTS of great coupons. We got FREE rides on sailboat & submarine, FREE dinner, FREE mug, FREE entrance to tropical parks and much more.
In Kona, you can get FREE buffet breakfast by attending an orientation by people wanting you to sign up for their activities but there is NO obligation.
Least expensive property (homes and land) is on East side of Hawaii Island. Contact: kathyo@hilo.net
Get a Hawaii drivers license and you can get FREE golf and cart on your birthday.

I think Maui of the Hawaiian Islands is the best. By the way, other people who answered, he was asking which island of Hawaii was the best.

My favourite island is Grande Island just off Goa. I went snorkling there when on holiday and it was ace. Afterwards we stopped on a deserted beach and had a barbecue with fresh fish and crabs that had been caught that morning. It was beautiful.
