I have been unintentionally celibate for over a year now; I don't know about my body but it's not been good for my mind, it's driving me up the wall! I barely think of anything else these days!

NO! Celibacy is not part of God's Plan but one must understand the way man and woman are using their sexual energy is against God's Plan. The difference between Human Sexuality and Divine Sexuality is like the difference between the Sun and the Moon. The Moon is dead but the Sun is the Source of Light/life to our bodies as well as our Solar/Planetary System.
Once the Sexual Secrets are understood and mastered then and only then will your body, mind, soul and spirit be reward with full mastery over the Laws of Life/Physics.

it really depends if it's a choice that you've made or if you just aren't getting any and calling that celibacy.
But yes, it can be useful to clear your mind of that primal need for sex. It frees you up to focus on other personal goals etc.
If lacking the initimacy of another gets to be problematic, then maybe celibacy isn;t for you.

i would think celibacy is very un-natural. Nature makes us have sexual desires in order to procreate (usually), and stifling those desires must make us frustrated and tense. I think celibacy is against nature, and even in places such as monasteries, it's not truly adhered to, and I think that the clergy more often than not end up having sex with each other.

Then why do we have sex organs when it will not be used? The main reason for these organs is for procreation.
for some people celibacy may be good, but for a bigger majority of humans, it is not.

I suppose it would depend on whether it was voluntary or imposed by circumstances.
If it was imposed upon a person, then it could be very unhealthy and create all sorts of psychological problems.

As others said, it can be. But you do wonder if it has something to do with child abuse by the Catholic clergy.
