I'm 19.I have two 4-year-old daughters(twins).I'm working and the 3 of us live alone so I usually have to leave them home alone(there is not appropriate kindergarten nearby).I wonder why all of you think it's unsafe. The kids are at home, the place which they and their children will probably own after my death. If at home is not safe, where is?And I know you probably don't lock your doors and think that anyone can only open the door ad get inside.I have a lock on the door and the two girls know how to work with it.They follow simple rules as "don't let strangers enter the house" ot "don't play with the electric appliances".All of you ask "What if there was a fire?"Well, people, fire does not become from nowhere.Something causes it.And the children know what and avoid it.And I repeat, they have keys and if there is a fire, they can get out.By the way if there is a fire,if my children can't go out, would I can?

You're a retard. I don't even believe you.
But for the sake of whatever, 4 year olds need assistance and love, and DHS will put you in jail if you don't.

As far as the fire part, if your children cant get out you could and help them, there are other ways out of the house like a window. Ever hear of an electrical fire? happens all the time. that is when the wires in your house, behind the walls, short out, and start a fire. Not something you or your kids can avoid. Can your 4 year old pick up a chair and throw it through a window? And what if one of your children get really sick? can the other one take care of her? As a parent i must tell you that all children are curious. You might think they are doing what you say, but they are not, i promise you. And what if some one tries to , or succeeds in breaking into your house? Do your kids know what to do? You are very lucky I don't know where you live, or I would have the police and Child Protective services out there now.

are you serious they are 4 years old!!! this must be a joke you must know that it is not ok to leave them home alone why don't you set up a fake test send a friend's friend there while you are watching let them use all the things that a child molester would use like lollies bribes toys etc i bet they let the stranger in do u know that child molesters pray on single parent's like your self i know it is hard i have a 4 year old and a 5 month old but no amount of money is worth leaving them home alone for and if a neighbour reports you to department of children's services you will lose your children is your job worth that?? find someone to be with them even a local teenage girl you could pay a baby sitting fee to that is better than leaving them alone please don't leave them alone any more they are 4 not 14 they do not understand the danger of this world as it is now if we as women decide to have children in these times of than we must protect them how would you cope if they did do something they were not allowed as all 4 year old's do and they got hurt or worse died??? would you want to go to work then??

You are jokng right? 4 is way to young to be left alone, children are curious and no matter how much you tell thm not to and dont there will always be hazards in the home you overlook, falling down the stairs, and turning on electrical appliances. Do you leave them alone when you go to work?? How do they eat and what if someone came to the door and asked for you? If you love your children stop this now before it is too late.

O.K. Your kids get a phone call that seems to come from the Police telling them to open the door now, their mom is in danger if they do not.

Smoke detectors and simple instructions can save them from fire. It is more difficult to teach young children skepticisim. And without this.........they are lost.

If we make this a regular part of their lives, we rob them of childhood. This argue's that an adult always be present to protect these children who are incapable of skepticism.

It is not a nice world. Plan for this.

You have got to be kidding me. Leaving 4 year old children at home alone is just stupid. I have children of my own who are older and would never think of leaving them home alone. If you don't figure out a safer method of taking care of your children while you work your local welfare office will. Another thing I know from experience that young children love to explore and will get into things they shouldn't if not properly supervised. Get some help and take care of your kids before you don't have them at all, or maybe you will realize how stupid you are when you have to bury one or both of them.

Even if you have to get up a half hour earlier so you can drive them to an "appropriate" kindergarten, and then get to work in time, so be it. You can't leave your 4 year old twins at home by themselves. Firstly it is illegal and considered child abuse. Secondly there are limits to how well a 4 year old can help him or herself. Do you know what they could get up to at home? If you can afford it another alternative is to hire a live-in nanny, or at least a nanny/sitter who will care for your kids at home while you work your shift.

Whatever you do... don't leave them home alone.

I didn't realize that Saturday morning was Parents Who Endanger Their Children Morning on Answers.

You should be in jail for doing this to 2 innocent children. If you have the intelligence required to get on the internet, then you are smart enough to figure out a way to have someone stay with your children when you cannot.

I understand you need to ean a living for your kids, but pls.prioritize their safety. Why take a relative to care of them while you are on work.Or hire a nanny. In case of fire children might panic and can't get out of the house... Dear why don't you look or find a home business so you take care of them while earning.

First of all its important to know that how long they will stay alone. If its a matter of minutes then can be okay. But for hours, how the kids will be able to drink, eat, go to bath room etc. by leaving the fire's issue on one side. Therefore, there shud be some one grownup to manage them.

Oh my they are 4 years old and you leave them home by themselves? Girl are you crazy. Do you have a mother, sister, brother, dad, aunt, uncle, grandma, someone who could watch the while you are out working or with friends. I know they are probably smart twins, but they dont know everything in the world. And please dont think I am calling you a bad mother, but that is a bad choice you have made. Please find someone to watch them, cause i would hate to see you reply with some bad news. Good Luck in finding someone.
