It helps when your question itself is more specific. So, "how are you?" in informal speech when addressing a group of people:

Comment allez-vous?
Comment ça va?
Vous allez bien?
Tout le monde va bien?

All of those are correct and can be used indifferently in informal speech, just as in English you might say:

How are you?
How are you doing?
Are you all doing well?
How is everybody?
Is everybody doing well?
Etc.

comment allez vous? Can be used as singular (Formally)

or the same phrase can be used for plural.
