He may just be clumsy, and growing too fast..but, it could be a symptom of bad hips. You just about have to wait and see.. I will post a link to a great supplement..
give him these two supplements> http://springtimeinc.com/product/94/2
http://springtimeinc.com/product/88/2
and it will aid in bone/joint health as he grows..
Check out the 'letters' as they are genuine.

Wish you could explain a little better the "strange way" he gaits that makes you think there is a problem. If, in fact, he is "dragging his legs over the ground", then you need to take him to the vet immediately. It may be nothing more than a big boned, large pup being normal and then again, it may be a problem. We are not vets and can not diagnose a problem for you. Only the vet can tell is there is something wrong with him and his gait.
Good luck.

GSDs have inherited hip problems as a result of inbreeding. This is a great breed ( I have one) , but are at risk for this. As some one told me, once a big dog can't walk, what are yo going to do? See your vet. Better to treat it now.Maybe it is something else, but dragging legs sounds bad. Irresponsible breeders sometimes pass these things on, knowing full well what problems the parents had. I love these dogs! Such smart dogs with good personalities.

I used to raise GSDs...one problem that came up with rapidly growing pups was the long leg bones grew faster than the muscles supporting them..the vet recommended the best food
you can afford and a vitamin supplement...your dog will slow down it's growing at about 8 months...they are all clumsy until
a year old
Good Luck with your pup, they are wonderful dogs

I am assuming by now you have taken him to a vet??
What does the vet say?
If you have not, then do it asap ... don't let another day go by without taking proper care of that puppy, and that includes visits to the vet!!
If you had a child doing that, you will have taken them to the doctor.
As far as what may be wrong, it could have brain damage, nerve damage, or who knows what ... please consult with a vet asap.
