First, look at the fuse that's on the radio. This is the amount of amperes the power supply needs to push at 12 VDC.

Your going to spend at leats $50 for a supply that produces that many amperes. If you don't use one this size, it won't get very loud at higher volumes and may even cut-out.

If you have a 12v DC/ac converter you can hook up your car stereo at home. You can also use a battery and hook up your car stereo just like in your car. the problem with it is when you run out of juice you have to charge it. I use to do it because my car was in the shop. It's good and bad.

there is more than one thing to consider in this matter. First find out what kind of amperage the unit needs to operate. Most ac adapters usuall have a max of about 1500ma. Do you have a big power amp? If you you do you are probably not going to find a power supply that will handle the load. Ever consider a decent sounding home unit?

if you have a negative ground system, there should be a red wire with an in-line fuse..that is +12 volts. there should be a black wire that is ground. the metal case of the stereo unit should be groung also. there should be a label on the unit that shows the wiring setup

well, you can install a battery under your bed, or you could just install your car in your room.
