Red hair is often hard to dye due to its coarseness (similar make up to afro hair and quite often its hard to bleach also). If its very red and not a strawberry blonde shade you probably will need to bleach first - if you do decide to bleach check regularly and stop when hair gets to the orange/yellow tone as most dyes will work over this (best to get hairdresser to do this but I know costs can often be a factor in doing this at home). There are temp veggie dyes such as Special Effects and Manic Panic that could work and possibly Manic Panic Raven might cover your hair depending on the shade of red - it would still be advised to lighten slightly before using these dyes, but veggie dyes condition instead of using chemicals etc so will not harm your hair further.
Site below shows 100's of pics of these veggie dyes and if you look under Gallery > Other you will see a couple of results using Raven Hair Dye

For purple to adhere on your hair, it would desire to be WHITE, if its ginger it won't artwork, think of of it as a colour pallet? purple and orange make?... brown, defiantly no longer purple, ginger hair has purple pigment in it, thats why you choose it to be white so the purple does not have the rest to react with. Tbh, i think of you will locate this effortless sufficient as your hair isn't dyed black, its organic o it relatively is going to lift alot quicker. perfect to bleach each and every 3 weeks, no longer by surprise. You ix the developer with the powder (in case you have the main appropriate stuff, you have a bottle of peroxide developer and a powder lightener - mutually they make bleach). when you have bleached your hair then you definately can dye it purple

If you want it to be black and purple (Which probably will not look good with your complexion considering you're a natural redhead) you'll need to see a qualified hair stylist who will probably bleach your hair to white before adding colours.
PLEASE see a hairdresser and do NOT try it yourself, it's an accident waiting to happen.
