I've suffered from sensitive teeth for as long as I can remember. I don't know about the sudden onset, but I have always had this and don't have any serious dental problems as a result. I have all my natural teeth, and have had very few cavities. I have used a treatment from oragel specifically for sensitive teeth, and if you follow the directions carefully it works really well and lasts about a month. It comes in swabs, and you put it on right below the gumline. HTH!

gargle a sorethroat mouthwash(e.g.dequadine or bactidol) 2 times a day. For cough, drink a carbosistine contained medicine. For sensitive teeth use a toothpaste like sensodyne.
