My coworker has 2 or 3 of them. She's single, but has a large family. She says they're only beneficial if you have a large family. Otherwise, you can get a hotel cheaper. I never could figure out how timeshares actually save people money.

I'll tell you what I think of TimeShares........First off, DO NOT buy a timeshare at Rangeley Lakes Resort, in Rangeley, Maine. It is FAR from being a five-star resort. More like a 3. We bought one a year ago, spent one week, and will never go back. We've put it on the Market. Want to Buy it ? haha.......hehehe, seriously.

Time shares are a waste of money. They do not benefit anyone, but those who sell them to you. You can visit any time share anyway without owning one. Just call them up and ask if they have any openings and they will get you right in. You'll pay to stay, but you will pay to stay at a hotel as well. They don't tell you that you can stay on a timeshare without owning one or a resort for that matter. Best kept secret.

One of my co-workers just bought one and she seems happy witht he deal. Plus her husband is prudent enough with money that I'm sure he did some research. She was saying that timeshare places have changed a lot of policies in the last few years (probably because of the bad rep) and are now a better deal. Personally I don't get it either. Esentially you are buying a piece of the resort, so I guess eventually when the loan is payed off it will be a decent deal.
