Aniseed is a seed used in cooking or to sweeten up things. Animals love aniseed for its sweet taste. Think of it like nutmeg. If you don't know what nutmeg is, it's a little how you say, a bulb that is usually grounded into fine powder.

Aniseed resembles cumin seeds but are shorter and rounder and lighter. They are used in making curries, mostly in Indian dishes. It is also called 'saunf' in North Indian cookbooks and called 'sombu' in South Indian cookbooks. There are even sugar coated candied ones available. A spoonful after dinner is supposed to aid in digestion, or so I hear...lol.

Do you perhaps mean anise seed? If so, it is a spice that tastes like black licorice. If not, sorry for the useless answer.
