Cholesterol is associated only with animal products. Vegetable products are cholesterol free but may be high in fat or may cause the serum cholesterol level to increase. Avoid any partially hydrogenated vegetable oil product like margarine, or vegetable shortening. All deep fat fried food items like French fried potatoes.

Remember, you can raise your cholesterol level on a cholesterol free diet!

cholesterol isn't fatty itself -- it hooks up with fats and then carries them into your bloodstream.

heres a page on "bad cholesterol" on wikipedia. it really doesnt answer your question but it does have lots of information.
