I think its been long forgotten....I have read it as well, and know about the violations.....Perhaps that is why there is some hidden animosity from the Mexican govt. towards the US govt....They don't want to drudge up the past, because the last thing they want is a war with US....We are neighbors....

How can yo say we are prohibiting Spanish? In CA, you go to the ATM and you have to push a button for English, otherwise it is in Spanish... ALL of the welfare forms are in Spanish... they can't find any in English... the customs office in Fort Lauderale FL couldn't find the forms required to come into the country from a foreign country in English, but they a ton in Spanish... Yoauamke a phone call to ANY government office and have to chose between English and Spanish... ALL of the instructions in how to put something together come in at least English and Spanish, most come in French and German too... You can have an intrepreter with you when you take your written driving test in CA if you can't read English.... There are now borders and they are crossing illegally... just because you think the US may have been breaching the contract does not give them the right to invade does it? And it is an invasion, not an immigration, most have no desire to immigrate or they would be trying to assilate into the major culture. If you moved to Mexico, wouldn't you be trying to learn the language and culture? Yes, you may maintain your original one at your home, but you would also be learning to blend in with your new home. They can have their culture, does that mean to disrespect the American flag and fly the Mexican Flag above the country they are supposedly immigrating to? What if YOU did that in Mexico? The land will not be given back, it was bought and Mexico accepted the money and continues to accept the billions of dollars sent there by the illegals. If Mexico were to get the land, the US citizens would leave, and the illegals would follow because they are following the money. So don't kid yourself... this isn't about the land, regardless of what the liberal left may say.

No, you are not reading it from start to finish. It is short, so it isn't that hard. The speaking Spanish part applied to the Mexicans present on the territories that became part of the US. They are long since dead and their descendants are Americans, not Mexicans. The treaty in part was to prevent the victors from taking property from current residents or persecuting them for not being able to speak English when they had been born Mexican and had never moved from their land.
It doesn't apply to people who weren't even born or to people from Mexico who weren't even near here.

It is hard when you discover that Robin Hood robbed from everybody and kept everything. He has a press agent that makes it all sound like our history was a blessing for all concerned. Much of this country used to be Mexico. Some of it we even sort of paid for. The Mexican secret plan is to just move back in and eventually they can vote for annexation back to Mexico.
