There are more Christian firefighters than atheist firefighters.
For Christians, death is neither the end or the worst that can happen to someone.
Because of this eternal outlook, priests primary functions are to serve God and save souls.

Maybe the priest is more interested in the eternal soul and less interested in the very temporary body. Also could be because firefighters are in the business of saving lives and priests are in the business of saving souls.

people want to be saved from a burning building..People don't want to be saved and go to Heaven (which is silly..Hell is a lot hotter than any housefire). A firefighter CAN'T make you come out of a burning building and God can't make a person accept him. Have you ever considered that God carries those atheists in that fire and gives them the ability to save the person's life and then to come out alive again. Atheists DO NOT do it by their own power.. I don't care what an atheists says they believe in something..there is no way they can look at a newborn baby, and someone about to die that lives and not know that God is in that. Disagree all you want but I hope the atheist firefighters enjoy the heat...when they die there will be heat a million times what they have had in a fire and they won't have oxygen mask to help them breathe or ladders to get them out or doors. Once they are there..they are there FOREVER.

Probably for the same reason that Christian priests can save more souls than atheist firefighters. It's a different line of work.

as far as taking a bullet that replaced into heading for yet another, that would matter on who that different have been. yet i think that i'd instinctively leap in front of a rushing automobile to shop a baby no longer pondering whether i'd stay or die...

First, the only thing the firefighters save is the Earthly life, we are interested in your eternal life.
Second, people cannot save your soul only God can do that, but we can introduce you to God so He can do the rest.

first of all...what does your religious preference have to do with firefighting???? we have a job to do, we do it. religion doesn't come into play. Have you run into a burning building lately??

the firefighters are saving the body, the pastors are helping to save the soul which is more important than mere flesh.

What a cynical question. How about Christian firefighters. Everyone has their calling and I would rather die in a fire and go to Heaven then on my death bed in old age and go to Hell.
