I am very upset hearing that Muslim women are banned from wearing head scarves in France and now the Dutch are ready to ban women from wearing the traditional Burqa (covering of the body with a coat and the face). These countries are basically telling everyone that Muslims have no right to do what is in their religion. I mean, how narrow minded can these people be? Seriously! These countries are taking away the freedom to practice religion and discriminating against Muslim women (and men) because a few idiotic people claiming to be Muslim have attacked the US. The fanatics should be caught and put in jail but don't tell everyone who are not fanatic Muslims NOT to wear what they want to wear or have to wear as per their religion.
What would happen if the Christian and Catholic churches were banned from having their nuns cover themselves from their head to toe? What about if the Jews were told that they could no longer eat Kosher meat and had to eat non-kosher food because Kosher was banned?
Of course, the people in these other countries are narrow minded folks who think they are right and everyone else is wrong. How much of this can anyone take? It is NOT right to take away a person's religious freedom because of security. I agree that there needs to be precautions but women can wear hijab and other police women can check them if they need to when they go to airports or other areas that they need to do security checks. Telling Muslim women (and it doesn't matter how many of them cover or not) is basically stating to the world that Muslims have no right to practice their religion freely in public (and in private if they go too far).
France and the Dutch have gone too far with their bans. They need to stop persecuting those who have done nothing to them. Look at their own countries....there are people who are not Muslim who have tried to hurt them and get away from the security. So stop screwing Muslims over with these crappy laws!

Are you a hijab wearing woman? if not, why get upset about an issue that doesn't have to do with you? Women can speak out for themselves...they need no male accomplices.

the hijab shouldn't be a problem at all, although some European countries have BANNED Muslim women from wearing it in public.
Neqab (covering the face) is not a religious requirement but some women choose to cover their face for more modesty. they have the right to do so as far as I'm concerned.
if we are going to let the government change ONE thing in the bill of rights we might as well throw it in the trash.

Infact they have problem with muslims and this is one way to offend them, I m sure if muslim ladies stop wearing hijab, they would raised the question "why muslim ladies are not wearing hijab"
see Nuns also cover their head but still they are not pointed out, because they are not muslims, so they have problem with muslims and everything related to muslims is a agaisnt their rules.
everyone should be given the right to practise their religion, this is called 'live and let other live' but *sigh*

Yes, here in Australia good ol' boy Fred Nile called for a ban on Muslim women wearing the hijab because it would be easy to conceal a bomb. Funny that good ol' Fred didn't consider it necessary for nuns to refrain from wearing the habit. I don't know about you but this seems racist to me, and this kind of thinking has no place in a democracy.

Not quite true. It was Holland and it wasn't the hijab, it was the burqua. And they haven't decided to do it yet. It is a proposal. Otherwise you've got it all "correct." Ahem
