Each breed has their own expected lifespan. Many say, the small dogs have longer lifespan, but my large breed lives 18-20 years..

For dogs, in general, about 14-15 years is avergae.

A huge dog, like a great dane or english mastiff, will probably only live 8 to 10 years. A large dog, like a german shepherd or labrador, will probably live 12 to 14 years. Small dogs have been known to live well into their late teens. There are exceptions to every rule. My little dog lived to be 17, my big dog lived to be 14 and my mastiff died at only 9 years. That was very sad.

Generally for large dogs 8-10, small dogs 10-12. But they can live way beyond this.

It all depends on the breed of dog . Small dogs tend to live a little longer.

Large breeds only live 8-14 years where small breeds can live from 16-19 years. It's never long enough.......

It really depends on the breed of dog. Some may only live for 12yrs while others can live for 15yrs. For more information on this you can look here http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogselectorindex.do?clik=animal_leftnav
