Thank you. I am not in the nursing field but rather Criminal Law.My physician is now a Physicians assistant but was a nurse for many years and she is awesome. She researches medicines and medical questions that I have, is always free to chat on her lunch if I stop by and has me out to her and her husbands home every summer to fish on their boat and for supper. She was a wonderful nurse(I imagine) and is now a phenomenal friend. All it takes it making someone a person, rather than a chart or a number. My hats off to all devoted nurses and those who actually remember your name in the health care field. You do the medical profession proud.

The only advice a nurse will give out is to see a doctor, or go to an emergency room.
NURSES CAN NOT LEGALLY DIAGNOSE! Nor can they prescribe treatment or medication..Only those with advanced education, under the supervision of a physician, may diagnose, or prescribe.
I am sorry to say so, but you must have missed this in medical school.
This is a public forum, and it is anonymous. Any one can claim to be anything here. I am sorry if you got some wrong information, but it could have come from anyone. I could claim to be Bill Gates and give out computor knowledge, or Whitney Houston, and advertize my soon to be released "tell all" book about my life with Bobby. Or Fidel Castro. Or a supermodel
Let me inform you that a new nurse, just out of school, makes less salary, and recieves poorer benifits, than the highway worker who stands and turns a sign from go to stop and back again. She makes less than a waitress or bartender in a good restaurant. My friend just took a job for the visitng nurses in a rural community near here. She makes $16 an hour. She has a master's degree in nursing, and has several years of experience. Another friend is going back to bartender school. She claims, at the upscale bar where she worked, $30 an hour was on a bad night. So much for your high pay arguement.
There is a severe nursing shortage in this country. I do not wonder why, I know. We put up mega money to go to school, and never recoup the loss.
All I can say to you is, someday, somewhere, you or someone you love will be in a hospital. It will be late at night, and you are in pain, and your bed is wet because you urinated in it. This supposedly arrogant nurse [not!]will come in, clean you up, call the doctor [and get yelled at and threatened with being fired for calling him/her in the middle of the night.] I might offer you juice, check your IV, turn you over, plump your pillow, and will argue with the pharmacy for the next three hours to get you that pain pill that the doctor begrudgingly ordered, and all without having eaten, taken fluids, or gone to the
bathroom since I left home, because I has been on the phone with your relatives, who have been calling every 5 minutes, threatening me if I do not hurry up and prescribe something for you. Please note rule number one. Nurses do not diagnose or prescribe.
As far as the title goes, it does not go far. My badge at work does not say nurse, or RN. It says "team leader". Think, where else have you heard someone refered to as a team leader? If you read this site, a young person was talking about it just the other night. She works at McDonalds. A good job to have. I hear the starting salary is well above the minimum wage, unlike other fast food places.
So, a little advice for you, take what you see on this site as someone's personal opinion, and check everything out. And be sure to check out my statement that only nurses with advance degrees and under a physicians supervision may prescribe or diagnose. I think you will find that to be more than a personal opinion, you will find it to be a fact, and a law..

If there is no money involved why would they really care to answer specially if involves research. It is like asking any other professional to give out free services, rarely happens.
My suggestion would be if you have a medical problem ask your doctor or look up some nurse service. for example; ask a nurse

Because most of the people who say they're nurses really AREN'T! People can be anyone they want on the internet, so they're just making things up. Getting medical advice from strangers online isn't really in your best interest - you don't know the people giving it and they don't know you!

my mother is a nurse and i consider her one of the best ever......she is not concerned with money or status....her main focus is on her patients....even on her days off she will usually call and check up on them and how things are going....she didnt get the chance to go bak to college and become a nurse until she was in her 40s....i am very proud of her for accomplishing that and i think that more nurses should be like her b/c she actually cares about pple

Those of us who are caring don't give medical advice over the internet. I don't even give advice at work without first checking with the doctor, even for a cold.

The problem is on here we don't know who is really what. That's why it's not exactly the best forum for serious matters, such as medical ones.
