You have to talk to him and make him see you want to be friends but the love relationship is over. Best if you can put some physical space between yourself and this guy.

Honestly, you may be looking for a relationship that doesn't exist. No relationship is perfect and usually it's always on again off again as far as getting along. I've been married for 8 years. It's not always great, but I love her. People are looking for this magic, perfect, always roses, completely rewarding relationship. Truth is, they don't exist. Think of how comfortable you guys are when you have sex. That spark that exists when you touch down with a new guy is just the NEWness. When you get comfortable and know someone well, that's love.

the same thing happened to me to. I had a relationship with my bf for 3 years and i got so tired of it because we constantly fight. We broke up just this year. I began to let him go when he cheated on me. I then realize that we really weren't meant for each other. It wasn't easy though for he was my first love. For you, think of it first why do you have to let him go. Have some quality time for yourself to think about it. Goodluck!

talk to him about how you feel. it's going to be hard...but if you really want out, then that is a way to do it.

i actually got over my first love because he lied to me about having a child. i felt that i couldn't trust him at all...so that made things really easy. but other ex's...it was harder. just hang out with friends and try to fill your time with things that will take your mind from the ex in question. you'll never fully forget...but the memories will be dulled.

4 yrs is a long time. it is not easy to just turn off the loving feeling. see if you are really really sure. no relationship is perfect. you might not find someone else to love such as you loved him. so be sure.in my case he was the one who broke off our 5 yr relationship coz he fell in love with another woman.

if your need for him is more than your love for him then i think you should tell him how you feel. you will never forget your first love no matter what. but maybe give it a try for a little longer let him know what needs to change
