I recently removed some drywall from the early 70s from a small bathroom. It may have contained asbestos (at least the compound might have?). Any idea what the risk to me is in doing this? Will asbestos particles float around in my home for eternity!

Although there would be a risk, it will be minimal at worse, due to the small amount and short exposure. The asbestos in the joint compound it very enclosed and does not easily get airborne. In a home, it is much less likely that it would have asbestos to begin with. As stated by another, wash the wall and floors down. The worry is more dangerous than the asbestos. If the house was all built at the same time, have a sample of the joint compound and drywall tested to see if you have a worry to begin with. By the way, a more dangerous problem in homes is radon. Have you tested your house.

I hope that you did not inhale any. Wash down all areas that might have dust. It is only dangerous when airborne and inhaled. Look up Asbestosis. If you don't have any breathing problems since the work was done I am hoping you are OK
