You can't convince anyone of anything. The only way he will "get it" is when she finally dumps him.

He'll learn the hard way. He probably thinks she's just joking when she says things like that - or - he has a terribly low self worth and thinks this is the best he can get. Either way, I wouldn't worry over it too much. It's not your problem to solve, it's theirs.
