well, there ya go. what kind of parent would put the crayon drawing made by one of their children up on the frig but not the drawing made by the other? wouldn't the obvious effect of such favoritism be sibling rivalry? that Bible god seemed to get some kind of twisted enjoyment out of setting his pet humans against each other.

poor Cain. he wasn't Abel.

What everybody doesn't understand is that Cain offered the wrong offering. He wasn't supposed to offer what he thought was right, but offer what God instructed.

After Adam and Eve sinned and were punished, then God showed them the proper offering they were to make and at the same time, He made them coats of skins (Gen 3:21).

It is this point that God establishes what He expects as an offering. This was then taught to both Cain and Able by Adam because we then read how Able offers up a lamb from his herd (Gen 4:4).

It is when Cain chooses not to trade his grain for one of Able's lambs that Cain decides that he will offer up his grain instead.

God doesn't respect Cain's offering because it wasn't an animal offering as God taught Adam. And so pride and ego got in Cain's way so that he became angry instead of realizing his errors and change his way.

Its not that God hates people with no access to cute little sheep, its that God established rules and Cain wasn't playing by them.

"God had abel killed". What?

Cain killed Abel, not God. God warned Cain about the disasterous results of letting sin and bitterness, anger and hatred lodge his heart but he ignored God's warning.

re: Abel not protected: Just because a person is a friend of God does not insulate him from the results of someone else's sin.

God said that without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin. That's the lesson. That in the future, one would come to set things right by the shedding of His blood. From God killing those first animals to clothe Adam and Eve,up to Jesus it was like writing a check to God and Jesus came and was the hard currency to pay off those checks,if it was done in faith and not just ritualistically.
What did God say to Adam, after he fell? He said ,"Cursed is the ground for your sake"....
Cain knew this but he said "Tough crap, this is what I'm gonna' do like it or not"So he brought this cursed stuff to God,that's why it wasn't accepted. Not cause it was veggies, but because it wasn't done God's way.
God said 'My way or the hi-way Cain'.My Universe,my rules or go find another solar system Pal.

Where is your respect?. Almighty God gave everyone free will. Cain abused his being jealous of his brother and killing him. Also never forget that Satan had a lot to do with this. He has been around since then and likes nothing better that to have people do the wrong things and then blame God. The fact that you did not even think about Satan;s influence shows how successful he has been in convincing people he does not exist.

Death of Abel was a result of Cain's sin. God allows a lot of suffering due to our free will. But if and when we suffer here, we have the hope in Him and He has the whole eternity to make it up to us.

If you read carefully, you see that Abel brought the fat portions of the livestock, which were considered the best parts bc the fat provides the flavor. However, it says that Cain brought "some" of the fruits that he grew, implying that they weren't the best he had. That's why he didn't favor Cain's offering, bc it wasn't the best he had.
