I was just wondering if there is any differences. Because, I was searching through yahoo motors, and the 06' had good ratings, but the 07's are horrible. But then again a lot of the 07' reviews were done on the same day and sometimes same state. So possibly dealers trying to get people to buy different cars? Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks!

Doug... this is the second year for them. The redesign happened last year and they had great reviews. Now i'm planning on purchasing one, and the reviews for the 07' are horrible, and making me second guess myself.

The ratings were from users on yahoo motors, so I guess they are not as accurate. But I was readin them because I like hearing what people who actually own the car have to say, not just the people who test drive them. But I did check edmunds.com, and they have WAY better reviews there from users.

Emperical data like user reviews mean nothing. Especially on yahoo where most of the reviews are probably from people who don't own one and are bummed that they just paid the same amount for a ford escape. The true measure of quality and reliability is found in resale value. Why? because resale value is the market as a whole determining how much of the value of the vehicle is left after a set period of time. Usually 2 or 3 years is measured, but I personally think 5 or 10 years would be a better measure. Anyway 4 of the top 10 vehicle models for resale are toyota suvs. The rav 4 has not been out in the current body style long enough to determine resale, however I'm certain that it will be high simply because it is a Toyota.
Check autotrader for used rav 4's and you will find that comparing apples to apples(year, mileage, and price as a percentage of new price) a used rav4 is worth more than almost any small suv, and probably comparable to the Honda CRV. I don't think you could go wrong with any Toyota so long as it fits your intended use.

Good luck.

Thats very strange on how the 07 models recieve dramaticaly different reviews than the 06. You are right, the redesign occoured in the 06 model. To my knowledge both 06 and 07 models are mechanicaly identical. The only difference is feature content. Toyota added a few more features and repackaged some of the option groups.

About the reviews you've read, were they written by expert journalists or can they be made with anyone that owns a computer? From what I've read in magazines and automotive websites such as Edmunds.com, the RAV4 is an amazing car and currently the leader in its class.

they really are two different vehicles, there is a complete design change from the ground up and like any other first year car they are going to have bugs, give it some time and see how reviews change

Yeah slightly just the front bumper and headlight area, and they added a body line on the sides, nothing major.
