I personally wanted to recruit some student to take care age from 7 to 12. I wonder will parent like you will consider this choice? The good point is the number of children will be small and attendtion will be well given. I would run just like other centre is doing only that I run it in my house. Please comment and give me your view. Thank you.

As you say the children would be between 7 to 12 years I guess I would trust a home person.because they could tell me if there was a problem. But under 5 I would prefer a child minding centre ours are stricktly run and have a ratio of 4 children to one carer .They do however cost more money but I tried home care with one of my sons who was just 2 and after picking him up for a few days I could sense something was wrong and never allowed that again.Child centres are not perfect but they do get to play with other children there own age so in closing I would rather pay the child care centre .You ask for opinions this is just one best of luck john.

I am moving to a small town that has after school care ran by the local YMCA and is located next to the elementary school. I have been a SAHM and now hubby and I work different shifts so the rug-rat is not in daycare yet. When she starts school I will go back to a day job and would need some where for her to go after school (for 30 min until Dad picks her up). So if you were a neighbor or someone I knew well I would use you. This a service alot of parents need.

Find a few more people who say yes, and you're in business. Check with your state licensing board to see if that type of "day care" requires a license.

See the web-sites below and have free business cards and post cards made up to spread the word. Yes, free. (+postage)

All you have to do is be enthusiastic in your approach, loving and nurturing to the children and available when you say you will be and you will be a huge success. Just count the number of children who walk out of the school building each day. Most of them are going home to an empty house. Best of luck.

when my children were small I did the day-care centers and the kids kept coming home with all sort of medical problems, the minute I put them in a home-care situation it stopped, and they felt more comfortable to, my answer is yes if this what you love to do, but you really have to enjoy this, because the kids can tell if you don't.
