If we consider the very common human vanity that makes people find ways to feel superior than the next guy, I don't think it would be so hard to understand when a group of individuals promote the idea they are the "chosen people" from an imaginary god. In another hand, if we get a little philosophical on the subject is OK to say that the so called "chosen people" is a very ancient idea, stolen by some, that has nothing to do with any individual or group on earth. If God is God, He, She or It, is not supposed to have any of our pitiful preference. The true meaning about the subject in question could be found in the phrase: "And God created man in His own image". Note, the phrase does not say that God created Jews in His own image. When we talk about man we're pointing out the divine being occupying the human body. As far as we know, no other creature has the same potentials, qualities and abilities of the human soul. It should also be noticed that ISRAEL is the spiritual name given to the human soul by some very ancient philosophical traditions before it was adopted by the Jews, just like the cross was already in use when a particular form was adopted by Christians as they simbol.

If you are not one of the chosen then why are you afraid to spell out God's name(actually Title). He told them they would always be his peculiar people, and He chose them to be the"Oracle" of God,in otherwords to keep the record of God dealings with man. Why?Because they are so "anal" they would keep the record straight. They'd sit there and copy 66 chapters of Isaiah, make an error in chapter 66 and throw the whole thing away and start over(I know there was no chapter and verse then, you get the point).Every time they'd write the name of God,they'd stop and use a fresh pen and fresh ink, boy, talk about intense, that's why there are no errors in the Torah. You'd have a hundred "Scribes" copying the Torah and they better all match.
But God told them in Deuteronomy what would happen if they disobeyed and fell away. All that has befallen the Hebrews, from the Babylonian Captivity on.They didn't even have a country from 70 AD until 1948.But they do now .Zechariah and Hosea both say they will accept the Messiah and be blessed ,just a matter of time.

Many people do not realize the Jews are only some of G*d's chosen people.
They are PART of the lost tribes of Israel. They are from the tribe of Judah, primarily the world remembers them because they were preserved for keeping the Sabbath's indentifying sign.
The other part being they were promised the line that was to bring the Messiah, thus the special hatred of the world upon them through Satan.
Oh, the other tribes became dispersed, failed to keep the Sabbath indentifying sign and because of disobedience. They later became the Europeans, Americans, British, and Australians.
Notice the world also seems to hate America??? That's because they are part of the Israelites dispersed in the OT. Proof that the Bible is TRUE.

Look up a relgigion that does not declare itself as Gods chosen people. YOU wont find one in the big three they all do. Singling out The jews for doing the same thing is silly.
The Celts were the GODS chosen people the greeks were chosen the ROmans the Chrisitians the muslims the jews the assyrians on and on and on and on. You will find very few whos tribe isnt the chosen one.
Now move east and you will find religions that recognize divinity in all creatures. They seem to be more peacfull.

We 'The Chosen People' are called that only because we were selected to illuminate the world with the concept of monotheism, one god.As to the rest of the religions,or atheists are concerned, they treat each others different religions like s--t so----why not pick on the lesser minority religion----the Jews.Blame the damn Jews.

Their earthly blessing may be cursed due to lack of obediance and international jealousy.
Seems they have been ordered to obey some seriously heavy Laws, and they were scattered from the Land as God promised. When they obeyed, they gor the provisions God promised as well... like leaving Egypt and walking over the Jordan.
Things are all different today. Freewill has run rampant. There are alot of Jew haters, but I am glad I am one who loves them. I think the worst thing that can happen to you on your time of judgement is sinning agains Isreal.
Thanks for hearing my 2 cents!

Most religions have their own way of proclaiming themself as the ultimate religion and its adherants as the people who are really in touch with the truth. In Christianity you have the doctrine of salvation, in Islam you have the idea of Mohammed being the "final" or ultimate prophet and so on. In the case of Judaism you have a very tribal people living in a harsh environment trying to distinguish themselves from the other hostile tribes and corrupting influences and so they adopted the "chosen people" idea because it best suited their needs as a people and as a religious body. The real question is why do ALL the religions, not just Judaism, dogmatically cling to outdated concepts long after they have stopped making any sense?

God truly wishes to fulfill His promise of watching over His people, but until they turn away from the man-made Talmud and come back to God pure truth of Torah - He cannot protect them.
Torah teaches that to follow God's teachings within it, He will bless and protect His people. Talmud makes no such promises and is from the minds of men, not from God.
Its a very sad situation, but my people won't receive His blessings until they refuse Talmud and embrace Torah alone.

Because the Jews rejected the Messiah when He came, rejecting Him against the very words of their Great Hebrew Prophets whom forecasted His arrival. His name is Yeshua (Jesus). They preferred to spare the life of the psychotic thief and murderer, Barabbas, over Yeshua, whom they allowed to be tortured, crucified, pierced and killed. Since then, God the Father has abstained and withheld His Presence from the Jews, and has not been active in their lives as He was in the days of old.

As God's chosen people, I too believe that they are my brothers in Christ. God made it perfectly clear throughout the Old Testament, that He would NEVER forsake His people, Israel...just as He would not change the laws of nature. I completely believe that God's hand is on Israel, and all that stand beside her and her people.
Thanks for listening to my 2 cents too... Loved your post, DavidT
