I work with this girl and I've spoken with her once or twice before. She's lovely.

We work in different departments so there are no work related questions I could cring to her. Since it is at work I don't want to simply walk up and be obviously hitting on her, so how does one initiate a conversation under such circumstances? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Additional note: I will only be working there for another two months, so not really a work place relationship . . . and, time is of the essence.

If I was you I would just walk up to her and start a normal conversation with her just like I do with any other friends of mine.

But hitting on co_worker does not sound like a good idea to me.

Maybe you can ask when her break is and try to plan yours to be at the same time. You can even ask when she works next. Or you can just ask her to go get a coffee or something with you, something really innocent.

Get tickets or reservations to something, and simply tell her that the friend you had planned to attend said thing with had to cancel. Be straight forward with her with something like, "I have these tickets for the comedy show Friday, and my friend just cancelled on me. Would you like to go?"

Could you brush past her and "accidentally" bump into her? When you do you could apologize profusely and then compliment her on her outfit. From there you could mention that you have noticed her before and ask her how she likes working at the company....be creative!

Workplace relationships are very complicated.

Seriously consider this because everyone will know your business and if it doesn't work out you'll have to see her everyday.
