I would give it a bit more time before deciding if it's the wrong medication for you. You should let your doctor know what you are experiencing and keep a close eye on your symptoms the next several days. Often, "mild" side effects will go away in a few weeks.

When it works, Wellbutrin is an excellent medication for treating depression with few or no side effects. I've been on it for about 8 years (and have been on about 19 psych meds in various combinations for the past 13 years...I'm bipolar.) Out of all of the antidepressants, I believe Wellbutrin is the most well tolerated overall.

DO NOT cut the tablets in half. That is not supposed to be done with extended release forms of medication.

For me, Wellbutrin began to give relief within days of starting it. However, at 4 or 5 days, it is still very early to see clear results and know how well it will work for you. By 6 weeks, it's usually obvious. Side effects, however, can begin pretty much immediately. Also, unless you see a pattern of your depression worsening, it could just be you had a really low day and have nothing to do with the medication.

The only reason to just stop it now, without waiting for at least 6 weeks is if you become very suicidal (or, I suppose, if the side effects are just too intense.)

You shouldn't be having side effects (or really any kind of response) from Wellbutrin after 4 or 5 days, it takes at least 2-3 weeks to build up in your system. Are you taking it for Major Depression or Bipolar depression? Needless to say if it is the later then you will have to watch for increased instances of mania, but I wouldn't see how it would make you nervous if you have major depression. I know when I started Wellbutrin I had a headache the first day, but after that no problem. Are you being started off on a small dose and then increasing to around 300-400mg?

Wellbutrin does have some wonderful affects, though for me it didn't really help my depression a lot. It was great with helping me lose weight and really enhanced my libido, but I'm going to be looking for something else soon because it's not helping my depression enough and the side effects (memory loss, having problems retaining information) are kind of a big thing for a college student. But some people really do love it, it's one of the few anti-depressants that focuses on dopamine. Now that I think about it, if you have any kind of schizophrenic tendencies before Wellbutrin it might be brought out further because of the dopamine.

I would say to give it a little while longer to see how it goes. Remember that the transition, by itself, is going to make things a little "off" because of the change you're going through. This does not mean that it won't get better, you just have to give it a few more weeks. If it really starts to bother you then you can talk to your doctor about how to get off of it, but you have to be careful when coming off of any psychoactive drug because it can be very traumatic (and potentially lethal) if you do it too quickly.

This is how my doctor told me to start wellbutrin(forget the xl thing for now)take half a pill every other day for a week then half a pill a day for a week then a whole pill every other day for a week then a whole pill every day...etc til you get up to your full dosage...never take wellbutrin after 3 or 4 PM because it will keep you up...you should feel it working in about 10 days with improvement to follow...

look at it this way; how long were you depressed before you started taking the pills. It will get better; I promise...wellbutrin has few sexual side effects and gives you energy. My doc calls it "the happy, healthy, and horney pill"

I took wellbutrin XL also, after a week I felt like committing suicide and even planned it out. I contacted my doctor and was told to stop taking immediately. Suicidal thoughts and severe depression are side effects of this drug. Contact your doctor A.S.P. What are you taking it for? Nervousness or anxiety? I'm now taking a drug called Lexapro and my life and mood is better than ever, also it does not have those DARK thoughts effect. Take care and contact your doctor, I speech from the heart. Good luck, and take care of yourself.

i was on wellbutrin and it didn't work for me they ended up putting me on paxel and it worked wonderful but you need to go to Dr. and tell him its not working you need something different. but again i had no luck with the wellbutrin. also sometimes it takes up to 6 weeks for the medication to work so you may need to try to stay on it and see if theres any difference if not then they need to change it. but again i don't think i would wait 6 weeks if its that bad. call your Dr. and see what he tells you.

Oh, my God, please stop that stuff. I have had two friends who took it an both came close to committing suicide.

I wish to heaven they would take that crap off the market because it kills people

I do not understand why doctors are giving this poison to people
