I'm guessing you are trying to attach phone/network cabling to some cross connect box. You need a special tool in order to "punch down" the wiring onto the posts, which you can find at the communications section of your local Home Depot or Lowes.

What type of punch down blocks are you connecting to? BIX? 66? Krone?
