In ninth grade, a friend who I liked promised me that he would have something for me at lunch the Friday before V-Day. (It was on Sunday, if I remember right.) I waited for him at lunch, but he didn't show up — he'd had band that day. I confronted him, he apologized profusely (he actually called himself a "selfish pig"), and I got the gift the following Monday. (A dating book he'd compiled out of Far Side comics.) We had a falling-out a few months later, and I gave it back. I regretted it deeply then, but I don't really care about it anymore.

My boyfriend and I went bungy jumping one Valentine's Day. Our feet were tied together. We jumped off the bridge at the same time. It was freaky. Very Scary. We ended up on the evening news!

I'm actually exempt...
I've been ORDERED not to do anything on that day. I do things everyday. She doesn't understand why to deal with the stress of reservations or battling all the people out there for that ONE special day.
