Hi there...click your finger nails close to each ear in turn (make sure that it CANNOT see your hands though) to see if it responds.

What color is the cat? White cats with blue eyes have a tendency to be deaf. I have a white cat with green eyes that is totally deaf. The way we found out was during a thunderstorm all the other cats were freaking out but she was just sleeping away. This is when we really started to watch for things that would convince us she was deaf. The vet said it was most likely from an infection as a kitten. We found her as a stray. She is a beautiful cat with long fluffy white fur and a big bushy tail. You just have to make sure she knows you are near before you touch her or else it startles her and she tends to scratch because she is scared. Usually just turning on the light is al it takes to let her know we are there.

its possible that she is deaf. Take her to the vet and they will be able to tell you for sure and don't worry it's not the end of the world if she is. Cats are very smart and can learn from hand gestures you will just have to establish a very good and trusting relationship with her maybe more so than the others. You could try clapping near her while shes sleeping, yes I know this sounds mean but if she doesn't have a response to that than it is very possible.

Make sharp noises by your cat such as clapping, popping, or banging, if your cats ears MOVE or lay flat on her head or even twitch noticeable, than she is NOT deaf.
I have two cats, I have had them since birth and it has yet been once that they have responded to their names. In other words,, my cats are idiots and they don't know there names worth diddlysquat. They aren't deaf though, thats for sure.

Stand behind her and make a loud noise but make sure you're standing so she can't feel the air coming off of whatever you hit. Snap, stomp, hit pans together, clap, something. If the cat doesn't startle, chances are he's deaf.

Get behind your cat with a metal cooking pot and tap it lightly with a spoon. You will soon know your answer.
